The classical music festival “Eté Musical à Dinan” was created by the violinist Véronique Daverio. Music of any kind is a sharing, a dialogue between musicians and an exchange with the public. It is this simple identity that Véronique has been able to give to this festival since its creation 12 years ago. And it is this same identity that I wish to perpetuate thanks to the diversity of the musical programmes and the accessibility of the concerts to all!
For several years now, my activity as a concert cellist has allowed me to discover a large number of French and international festivals. They are the subject of great diversity and are often conducive to rich human experiences. Dinan offers a very interesting cultural programme thanks to its heritage and history. It is in the middle of this scene, during the most touristic period of the year, that the festival “musical summer in Dinan” takes place.
I now have the immense privilege of being able to invite and introduce to you some of today’s best musicians from all horizons. Most of of the concerts will play at the Théatre des Jacobins, while the baroque ensembles will make echo the old stones at the Abbey de Léhon.
All this would not be possible without the unfailing work and support from the municipality of Dinan and the association “Les Rencontres Artistiques de la Rance”. Without omitting our partners, our godmother the famous mezzo-soprano Karine Deshayes and our dear public who see themselves more and more faithful and numerous! THANK YOU!
A graduate of the CNSMD, Lyon in the class of Anne Gastinel, Francçois Robin furthered his studies in Paris with Christophe Coin and was awarded the “Diplôme d’Artiste Interprète” in 2014. During the same year he was selected to represent France in Japan at the Kyoto International Music Students Festival.
During an Erasmus exchange to Vienna in 2011, François had the privilege to study under Valentin Erben, cellist of the legendary Alban Berg Quartet. It was here that his passion for chamber music was established. He now plays cello in the Quatuor Van Kuijk, with whom he was awarded the First, Haydn and Beethoven prizes at the prestigious Wigmore Hall String Quartet Competition in 2015. HSBC laureates, BBC new generation artist and ECHO Rising Stars, the quartet performs on international platforms including the Wigmore Hall, Berliner Philharmoniker, Konzerthaus and Musikverein Wien, Concertgebouw Amsterdam… and has studied with Günter Pichler, first violinist of the Alban Berg Quartet at the Escuela Reina Sofia in Madrid.
As a soloist, François has performed Haydn, Schumann and Saint-Saëns concertos, Tchaikovsky rococo variations, as well as concertos by CPE Bach on period instrument alongside Sigiswald Kuijken at Les Invalides. François has also participated as principal cellist in the French Youth Orchestra, Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchestra and the orchestra Les Siècles under the baton of François-Xavier Roth, as well as with La Chambre Philharmonique conducted by Emmanuel Krivine on period instruments.
His CD recording presents Mozart, Debussy, Ravel and Schubert’s String Quartets for Alpha Classic, in co-production with the BBC and Aix-en-Provence festival, and follows discs of Lucien Guérinel for Integral Classic and a trio by Philippe Leroux for the foundation CD Meyer with accordionist Vincent Lhermet.
