Music! And even more, classical music has been the passion of a lifetime, the subject of a total dedication from which was born a wonderful festival in a city of innumerable cultural riches. An outstanding violinist, a smiling artist, a generous and ambitious personality animated Véronique Daverio, founder of this festival 11 years ago and artistic director. She suddenly left us and we regret her presence today.
What better tribute could we pay to her than to perpetuate this rare musical event and to make the walls of the rich heritage of Dinan vibrate with the sound of our great guest musicians? In the name of all the friends of this festival, its members, the great singer Karine Deshayes who is its godmother, as well as in my own name, I would like to share with you our overflowing motivation and our great impatience to see you all again for the twelfth edition which will take place from August 3 to 9, 2020!
Music in general but more particularly through the masterpieces of the so-called “classical music” is a universal language, a transgenerational voice testifying to the greatness of the human soul. This is the ambition of this festival, however modest it may be. An accessibility to all and and the possibility to let oneself be carried towards an unknown universe through the sounds.
Thanks to the ideas, the availability and the little counted time of the volunteers of the association “les Rencontres Artistiques de la Rance”, we manage to carry, imagine and realize our artistic dreams. It is also thanks to the unfailing support of the municipality of Dinan as well as SPEDIDAM, ADAMI…
In the concern not to break with the previous editions, the programming of the summer 2020 will be oriented on the eclecticism of musical genres ranging from baroque music to more current composers. From the great solo piano recital to more complete chamber music formations, you will appreciate the Spanish colours of a guitar duo, the swinging rhythms of a saxophone quartet or the majesty of Franz Schubert’s great two-cello quintet.
Before unveiling the entire program and having the pleasure of meeting you again next summer at the Jacobins Theatre and the Abbey of Léhon to applaud these young artists who are among the greatest talents of today, I wish you all a very happy holiday season.
